A First

This weekend marked a major milestone for little Jacob.

On Sunday afternoon he spent time with some of John’s friends from school and learned what it’s like to have an afternoon on the basketball court with the boys (and his mom).   While he didn’t actually touch a ball, he did crawl around on the court a little.  And after his dad’s victory in a game of Twenty-One, he experienced what I’m certain will be one of the most profoundly life-altering moments of his existence.

Let me introduce you to David.

In addition to being one of the most articulate, intelligent, and genuine people I know (and I’m not just saying that because I know he’s reading this), David is a wonderful friend and an avid sports fan.  Thus his enthusiasm for life in general often manifests itself in the same way one might cheer at a sporting event.

It was inevitable, then, that David would express his love and affection for little Jacob in the same fashion.   And I think Jacob is more than happy with his initiation as one of the guys.

As a mom, I don’t think I could be prouder.
