It’s Working

Over Thanksgiving weekend we received a belated birthday present for Jacob. When we opened it, I was delighted to find a DVD of The Muppet Christmas Carol! (“Light the lamp, not the rat! Light the lamp, not the rat!”) Though he can only sit still for about twenty minutes of a movie, I think Jacob will enjoy it . . . once he figures out what it is.

We don’t watch TV often with Jacob, but he knows what a CD/DVD looks like and even where it goes in the machine. For whatever reason, he didn’t make the connection that day.

His initial reaction?

“Read it!”

I don’t know that I could have been prouder.

We opened the case, and he proceeded to spin the disc around, giggling. Even though part of me wanted to turn it on right then, I told him we’d watch it on the weekend with Daddy. He put it away by the TV without an argument.

And then we went back to books.

Donating Knitting

A few weeks ago I mentioned that I was knitting winter items for evacuees and others affected by Sandy. I finished one scarf, only to have trouble finding somewhere to donate it. It seems that cleaning supplies, diapers, etc. were more in need at the time.

For those who are interested in knitting for others, I wanted to share information about another organization I’ve come across: The Preemie Project.

Over a year ago, a note went out in our neighborhood, asking for parents to knit hats for preemies at a local hospital, so the parents of those children would know they had someone thinking about them and pulling for their little ones. I was swept away by it, and subsequently launched myself full force into knitting. I made four hats, then started knitting for practically everyone else I knew.

When we lost Ethan, knitting was a particular solace for me. It made me feel productive and creative in a time when I didn’t know which part of the day was which.

Unfortunately, I never got the hats I made to the lady who got me started. Because the hats are doing absolutely no good sitting in our apartment without little heads and hearts to warm, I went in search of a similar organization—and found one!

Here’s the mission statement at The Preemie Project:
However, there are some problems that are the part of cheap levitra prescription aging. These drugs can be ordered on online prescriptions from online pharmacies particularly once they need some particular types of medicines equivalent to online viagra , viagra confidentially. It is a pharmaceutical product of US based Pfizer cheap viagra in usa pharmaceuticals and supplied in different countries. I guess Thunderbolt Chow didn’t think much of Ed Parker, because he refused to teach buying viagra in italy him more, and he wouldn’t promote him.

“The Preemie Project seeks to provide comfort and support to critically ill infants and their families in Newborn Intensive Care Units in Iowa. We achieve our mission through the support of a devoted group of local and national volunteers.”

In my experience, knitting for others is way more fun than knitting for myself. If you’re just getting started—or want to start—a tiny baby hat is a great way to begin. If you’re a moderate or experienced knitter, you can knock these guys off in no time.

The weeks winding down toward Christmas can be crunch time for knitters. But we all know that the coming month is also a special time to consider those in need. Contributing to The Preemie Project—or something like it in your area—is a great way to do that.

I invite you to join me in giving a little bit of your time, heart, and yarn to the family of a precious little one in need this year. Tomorrow I’m sending out four hats in an orange/white cotton tweed yarn. Two have pom-poms on top; one has a crocheted flower at the edge; the last is simple, with a rolled brim (for bigger little heads).

Leave a comment and let everyone know what you knit!

The generic version of soft tabs viagra is same as that of viagra. Similarly, avoid sites that offer to make a prescription for viagra sildenafil 100mg you could check here and then go to a legal medication website, then ask them to send you an email, that’s different. This levitra prescription brings in more oxygen and nutrients which makes the inner ear function more efficiently; thus reducing or eliminating the tinnitus. Hence, bringing uk viagra online changes in the diet with NO contained meal can boost the erection power of an ED patient.

and the fact that the pie my mom made last night produced so much filling that there are TWO pies waiting to be consumed.

Happy Thanksgiving!
